Starting Ability

The beastmaster can improve the attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check made to improve the attitude of a person. The beastmaster rolls 1d20 and adds their character level and their Charisma modifier to determine the wild empathy check result.

Abilities

Alpha Hunter

You may add this template to any animal ally you gain by casting the Animal Ally spell. If you do, the XP cost to summon the creature increases by 120. Only one animal ally at a time may have this template.

Bloodthirsty Training

You may add this template to any animal ally you gain by casting the Animal Ally spell. If you do, the XP cost to summon the creature increases by 90. This template may only be added to carnivorous creatures.

Whenever a creature with this template deals damage in combat, it has a 1% chance per hit point of damage dealt that it will enter a blood rage. A creature in a blood rage makes an additional attack per round at no penalty. However, they suffer a -4 penalty to their Defense. The creature is immune to all fear effects while in this state. A creature in a blood rage will attack the closest available target (friend or foe) except you. A blood rage lasts a number of rounds equal to the creature's Constitution modifier, or until everything in the vicinity is dead.

Coordination

During any round in which your Animal Ally makes a melee attack, you gain a +1 competence bonus on your attack rolls again the same opponent.

Greater Beast
You may add this template to any animal ally you gain by casting the Animal Ally spell. If you do, the XP cost to summon the creature increases by 120.

Inspire Beast
XP Cost: 500
As a Standard Action, you may make a Handle Animal check (DC 20) to grant your Animal Ally a +3 morale bonus on attack and damage rolls for 1 round. Your Animal Ally must be within 30 feet, have line of effect, and be able to see or hear you.

Speak with Animals
XP Cost: 810
You gain the ability to speak with and understand all animals.

Special Mount
XP Cost: 500
Choose one of your animal allies of Large or greater size. This creature becomes your special mount. For each of its saving throws, the mount uses its own base save bonus or yours, whichever is higher. The mount applies its own ability modifiers to saves, and it doesn’t share any other bonuses on saves that you might have. In addition, when subjected to an attack that normally allows a Reflex saving throw for half damage, a mount takes no damage if it makes a successful saving throw and half damage if the saving throw fails. Should your mount die, you may select a new one from you existing animal allies or summon a new one using the Animal Ally spell. You may never have more than one Special Mount at a time.

Stealthy Training

You may add this template to any animal ally you gain by casting the Animal Ally spell. If you do, the XP cost to summon the creature increases by 90.

  • +2 insight bonus to Initiative
  • Increase the creature's base speed by 10 feet.
  • +2 Dexterity
  • +2 Wisdom

Whenever a creature with this template attacks an opponent that it flanks, or an opponent who is denied his Dexterity bonus to his defense, it deals an additional +1d6 damage.

Tainted Beast
XP Cost: 810
You may add this template to any animal ally you gain by casting the Animal Ally spell. If you do, the XP cost to summon the creature increases by 60.

  • Darkvision 60 feet.
  • +2 profane bonus to Defense
  • +1d4 damage to all melee attacks
  • +2 to all Will saves

Creatures with this template suffer a -2 to Initiative and attack rolls in daylight.
