Craft Poisons

Key Attribute: Wisdom

The Craft (Poisons) skill allows you to create and improve poisons, as well as harvest them from creatures and plants.

Rank 1 Ability

You can harvest the venom from freshly slain animals with the Poison ability for use as poisons. Harvesting a poison takes one hour. A slain creature can only be harvested for venom once. Poisons harvested in this way last for a week until they lose their potency.

Base DC: 15

Success: You successfully harvest a single dose of poison from the creature. If you exceed the DC by more than 5 points, you harvest 1d4 doses. If you exceed the DC by more than 10, you harvest 1d6 doses. You may not harvest more doses than 1/3 of the creature's hit dice (minimum 1).

Failure: You do not successfully harvest any venom. If you fail by more than 5 points, you are poisoned by the venom, and must make saves as normal.

Rank 4 Ability

You can create your own Quick Poisons. Quick Poisons deal hit point damage to the recipient. The damage is suffered every round until the recipient succeeds in a saving throw. Creating a quick poison takes one hour and costs 100 sp (though using exotic materials may change the cost). The character must provide the raw materials for the poison, plus 10% of the poison's cost in XP (minimum 1).

Quick poisons are applied to weapons only, and affect the target when they interact with his blood. A successful attack roll with the weapon is enough to affect the target.

Base DC: 10

Success: You have successfully created 1d4 doses of the chosen poison. The damage dealt by the poison is dependent on your skill check result (see the table below). The save DC against these doses are equal to your skill check -5. Poison crafted in this way stays potent for 7 days.

Check Result Damage
9 or less Failure; poison is nonviable
10-14 1d6
15-19 2d6
20-24 3d6
25-29 4d6
30-34 5d6
35+ 6d6

Failure: You have failed to create the poison. The money and XP used to create the poison are lost.

Rank 5 Ability

You can create your own Slow Poisons. Slow Poisons deal ability damage to the recipient. The damage is suffered every minute until the recipient succeeds in a saving throw. Creating a slow poison takes one day and cost 500 sp (although using exotic materials may increase the cost). The character must provide the raw materials for the poison, plus 20% of the poison's cost in XP (minimum 2).

Slow poisons can be administered through contact with the target's skin or blood or by ingestion.

Base DC: 10

Success: You have successfully created 1d4 doses of the chosen poison. The damage dealt by the poison is dependent on your skill check result (see the table below). The save DC against these doses are equal to your skill check -5. Poison crafted in this way stays potent for 10 days.
