Craft (weaponsmith)

Intelligence

This skill represents your skill in creating and designing new weapons.

Rank 1 Ability

he basic function of this skill is to allow you to make a weapon. The DC depends on the complexity of the item to be created. The DC, your check results, and the price of the weapon determine how long it takes to make. The weapon’s finished price also determines the cost of raw materials.

To determine how much time and money it takes to make an item, follow these steps.

1.Find the Weapon’s price. Convert the cost to copper pieces (10 copper pieces to 1 silver piece).

2.Find the DC from the table below.

3.Pay one-third of the item’s price for the cost of raw materials.

4.Make a Craft (weaponsmith) check representing one week’s work.

Base DC: Special (see below)

Item Craft DC
Bow 12
Composite bow 15
Composote bow w/ High Strength rating 15 + (2 x STR rating)
Simple melee weapon 12
Martial melee weapon 15
Exotic melee weapon 18

Success
Multiply your check result by the DC. If the result times the DC equals the price of the item in copper pieces, then you have completed the item. (If the result times the DC equals double or triple the price of the item in copper pieces, then you’ve completed the task in one-half or one-third of the time. Other multiples of the DC reduce the time in the same manner.) If the result times the DC doesn’t equal the price, then it represents the progress you’ve made this week. Record the result and make a new Craft check for the next week. Each week, you make more progress until your total reaches the price of the item in copper pieces.

Failure
If you fail a check by 4 or less, you make no progress this week.

If you fail by 5 or more, you ruin half the raw materials and have to pay half the original raw material cost again.

Rank 2 Ability

You may revalue the item at 1/2 its listed price. This reduces the amount of time spent on the weapon and reduces the base DC of Craft (weaponsmith) checks by -2. The weapon gains the primitive quality.

Rank 3 Ability

You may choose to add 10cp to the value of the weapon. If you do, the weapon grants the weilder a +1 to all his damage rolls, and a -1 penalty to all his attack rolls. If this ability is used on a two-handed weapon, the bonus becomes a +2 and the penalty a -2. This ability may only be used once per weapon, but does stack with other Craft (weaponsmith) abilities.

Rank 4 Ability

You may choose to add 10cp to the value of the weapon. If you do, the weapon ignores 1 point of DR. If this ability is used on a two-handed weapon, it ignores 2 points of DR. This ability may only be used once per weapon, but does stack with other Craft (weaponsmith) abilities.

Rank 6 Ability

You may choose to add 10cp to the value of the weapon. If you do, reduce the weapon's weight by 25%. This ability may only be used once per weapon, but does stack with other Craft (weaponsmith) abilities.

Rank 8 Ability

You may spend more time on the weapon, increasing its value by 25-150% (your choice). This is the new value and must be met in accordance with the standard Craft (weaponsmith) rules. Be sure to use this new value before calculating the base material cost of the item.

Rank 9 Ability

You create new or variant weapon designs.
