Trail Rations

Trail rations are a common term for a variety of foods that pack especially well, and last longer than fresh food. Trail rations are made up of cheap, ubiquitous staple foods that will keep your feet moving for a long time with nothing else to eat, to be supplemented with fresh meat and vegetables as opportunities come up. The specifics vary from region to region, but all include a fat (such as olive oil or lard/tallow) and dry meal (generally oat or barley meal).
